If your having issues connecting to the NMX via Bluetooth, here are some helpful tips!
1. Make sure the NMX is booting properly, with a normal NMX bootup the green light on the right side of the RJ-45 (MoCoBus) ports should blink 5 times this indicates that the main chip is booting and the firmware is loading. You may also notice a brief flickering of the Bluetooth light, this is the Bluetooth module booting up. If the green light does not blink 5 times:
2. Make sure the blue 'emergency stop' button is NOT being pressed. If you have the blue button depressed as you connect power the controller this will go into 'firmware upload' or 'bootloader' mode and prevent connection. Holding the blue button for more than 5 seconds after the controller has launched will put the controller into 'DragonFrame' mode, this mode will also prevent you from connecting via Bluetooth.
3. Make sure you have the most up-to-date firmware loaded on the NMX and you also have the latest version of the iOS or Android app. Check out the video tutorials for MAC Update and PC firmware update, if you run into any snags after following the video tutorials contact us at support@dynamicperception.com or call us and we'll help you through the process.
4. The NMX will only be able to connect with Bluetooth Low Energy compatible devices (also known as 4.0 or 'Smart'). Android 4.3 or higher. iOS 7.0 or later (iPhone:6+, 6, 5s, 5c, 5 & 4s iPad:Air, Mini, 3rd & 4th gen iPod:touch)
5. Make sure your iOS/Android Bluetooth is ON but Do Not 'pair' the NMX with your phone/tablet OS through the Bluetooth Device Settings. Only the NMX Motion app has the ability to communicate properly with the NMX. If paired with the OS it will block the NMX Motion app from connecting! If you do happen to pair the NMX with your phone/tablet make sure it's completely unpaired before you try to connect with the NMX App, in the worse case your mobile device may automatically re-connect and block you from connecting through the app. The same is true of you are using multiple iOS or Android phones/tablets to connect to the NMX.
6. Before you attempt to connect check the Bluetooth light on the NMX, it should be OFF. If the Bluetooth light is illuminated the NMX is already connected to a device.
7. Practice a little patience, give it a 10-20 seconds to connect after selecting the NMX from the list but if it hangs for more than 20 seconds then a quick app close/restart cycle and re-connect attempt may do wonders.. After the first solid connection the app will usually re-connect very quickly but sometimes that initial handshake between app and NMX can be a little finicky. The first thing to try is simply shut down/restart the app. With Apple devices this is done by double clicking the home button at the bottom of the screen, then swipe the app up to close. With Android devices you use the 'app stack' button that looks like a stack of rectangles and swipe left or right on the app to close (Samsung devices: hold the home button at the bottom of the screen to access apps currently running).
